I received my undergraduate education from the University of Otago (Dunedin, New Zealand) and my graduate education at the University of Arizona. I taught at Macquarie University (Sydney) from 2003 until 2006,

and at the University of Oxford from 2007 until 2012. I have also held positions at the Australian National University as a postdoctoral fellow and at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and Institut Jean Nicod (Paris) as a visiting Professor.
