Graham is Head of the Planning and Environmental Management subject area within SED. He joined the School as a Professor of Urban and Environmental Planning in October 2010. His specialist interests include urban environmental issues, spatial planning and urban and regional development.
Previously Graham was a Professor of Human Geography at the University of Hull (2000-2010). He also spent over 10 years teaching planning and geography at Leeds Metropolitan University (1988-2000), where he rose from Senior Lecturer to Professor of Local and Regional Economic Development. In his earlier career he worked in the former Inner Cities Directorate of the Department of Environment (1987-1988), as a visiting lecturer at the University of Wollongong (1986), and prior to this as a research associate in geography at the University of Manchester. Graham studied for both his BA (Economics and Geography) and PhD (Geography) at the University of Hull.
