Prof Cynthia Macdonald - Research
My primary interests lie in an area intersecting philosophy of mind and metaphysics (ontology and causality), and in cognitive science. My research focuses on mental causation and explanation, the nature of psychological explanation, and externalism and self-knowledge. I am currently engaged in two main research projects. One, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, is on the topic of authoritative self-knowledge. The other, with Graham Macdonald and funded by the Royal Society of New Zealand and the Mind Association, is on the topic of mental causation and explanation in the special sciences.
