Catherine qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and practised in defendant professional negligence work.
Catherine's PhD thesis examined ethical and legal issues surrounding the use of genetic information and the family. Since 2002, Catherine has worked on the MA/LLM/PG Diploma in Healthcare ethics and law by Distance Learning. She is currently Programme Director for those programmes. She has also taught on undergraduate courses and in the dental school.
