Solicitor (currently non-practising) - qualified 1998 and specialised in defendant professional indemnity litigation. She is a part-time lecturer in law on the MA/Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Ethics and Law by Distance Learning. This innovative programme allows students to study for an MA or Postgraduate Diploma without attending the university. She also administers the medical ethics and law teaching in the Dental School.

She has participated in Eurostem, a research programme on stem cells funded by the European Commission.
