Prof Andrew Russell - Research
Research interests
I have published widely on many aspects of political parties, elections and campaigning and electoral engagement. In particular I have published a great deal on the British Liberal Democrats and on young people.
As well as academic output I have been involved in work for the Electoral Commission on the electoral engagement of young people and minority ethnic communities. In April 2004 I was the academic representation on the Electoral Commission's Project Board which reviewed the minimum age of candidature and voting in UK elections. This report led to the 2006 Electoral Administration Act which lowered the minimum age of candidature in the UK from 21 to 18.
Current Research Projects:
I am currently finishing a research monograph on Young People and Politics in Britain.
