BA (Hons) (Liverpool), MA (IDS), PhD (Swansea).
Tanja Bastia is Lecturer in Urban Development, researching social relations, inequality, mobility and space, with a particular interest in labour migration. Previous professional experience included working as a research associate at the Universities of Cardiff and Swansea and as a consultant for the International Labour Office in Geneva; World Food Programme commissioned work on school feeding in developing countries; sustainable consumption and school meals in the UK and Italy; DFID-funded projects on small-scale artisanal mining and social development research as well as numerous collaborations with non-governmental organisations in Bolivia, Peru and the UK. From 2007 to 2010 Tanja held a British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
