I have conducted extensive fieldwork on avtorskaia pesnia in Russia (St. Petersburg, Moscow, Samara), which has been funded by grants from the Davis Center at Harvard University and the British Academy.

I am a member of the following professional organisations: American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies; American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages; British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies; and the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (UK and Ireland).
