Biography

I am a researcher in the ESRC Centre on Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE) and Academic Director of the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Resource Centre.

After studying history and law at the University of Sydney, I completed a PhD in comparative history at the University of York.

My first lectureship was at the University of the West Indies (Barbados) in 2000, and since then my research and teaching have focused on past and present migrations. I have also taught history at universities in the France and Australia, before moving to Manchester in January 2006.
