Jenny Hughes is Lecturer in Drama, Co-Director of the Centre for Applied Theatre Research in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures and of the In Place of War project (www.inplaceofwar.net).

Her research interests include: theatre as a cultural response to emergency, with a particular focus on war, terrorism and poverty; protest performance and theatre activism; applied theatre and performance; theatre, performance and young people at risk. 

Her publications include the monograph, Performance in a time of terror (Manchester University Press, 2011) and co-authored book (with James Thompson and Michael Balfour), Performance in place of war (2009, Seagull/Chicago).
