Biography

Brian Webb is currently a Research Associate at the Centre for Urban Policy Studies (CUPS). His research explores intergovernmental spatial policy coordination and the delivery of national and regional infrastructure in multi-level government environments. His previous work in CUPS has involved projects for the Royal Town Planning Institute on 'A Map for England' exploring the need for joined up government spatial policy, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation’s UK Housing and Neighbourhood Monitor that explores key trends in housing and neighbourhoods across the UK, a University of Manchester sponsored project on Diversifying Spaces for the Delivery of Renewable Energy Infrastructure, as well as an ESRC sponsored project on Climate Science and Urban Design. Brian is currently undertaking work on three projects, the 'TellUs Toolkit',  'Transformational Infrastructure Programme', and 'Social Mobility in Europe'. Brian is currently a regular contributor to the Regional Studies Blog.

He has previously worked in Canada for the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in the disaster relief and planning unit as well as the planning education and training unit. His work also includes time with the City of Toronto’s City Planning Department where he assisted in developing heritage planning policy.
