Biography

Alison Jeffers is Lecturer in Applied Theatre and Contemporary Performance and Co-Director of the Centre for Applied Theatre Research in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures (www.arts.manchester.ac.uk/catr). She previously held the post of Teaching Fellow in Drama (2008-2009) having completed a PhD in Drama as one of two AHRC funded researchers of the In Place of`War project (www.inplaceofwar.net). Alison is currently a member of the In Place of War network

Having graduated with degrees in Drama and English from the University of Manchester in 1984 Alison pursued a career in theatre and community arts before completing an MA in Theatre Studies at Leeds University in 1992. This was followed by eleven years of teaching in both further and higher education before embarking on a PhD in 2004. The title of her PhD is Refugee Theatre and Performance in the UK and in 2010 this was published as a monograph by Palgrave Macmillan under the title Refugees, Theatre and Crisis: performing global identities.
